  • Lead time clearly stated, with "ARO" (After Receipt of Order) so the clock starts on PO, not on quote acceptance.
  • Payment terms. Deposit + balance protects you on custom work where you can't easily re-sell if the customer walks.
  • Shipping terms (FOB origin vs destination). Determines who pays freight and when title transfers.
